Temporary Closing of Road

Monaghan County Council gives will close the following road in the Municipal District of Carrickmacross/Castleblayney in County Monaghan:

Dates and Times: Between Thursday 21^st May 2026 and Friday 26th June 2026.

                                The Road may be closed for a maximum of 2 weeks within the Closure Period.

To Facilitate: Road Improvement Works

Roads Closed: R181-2 in the townland of Killygola, Co.Monaghan for a distance of 1.4 km between junction Killygola and 450m North of the R-182 junction.

Diversion Route:

Traffic travelling North-bound from Castleblayney to Keady on R181 will be directed to detour by taking a right turn via R-182, travel approx. 17km then turn left onto A29 Newtownhamilton, travel for approx. 2.1km before taking a left turn onto A29 Keady Road, Travel approx. 10.7km, take the 2^nd exit at mini-roundabout onto A29 Victoria Street Keady, travel approx. 640m towards Keady, Diversion end.

Traffic travelling South bound from Keady to Castleblayney will be directed to turn left onto A29 Victoria Street Keady, travel approx. 640m, take the 1^st exit at the mini roundabout onto A29 and travel for approx. 10.7km before taking a right turn onto A29, then travel for 2.1km before taking a right turn onto A25 Blayney Road, travel for approx. 17km until reaching junction with R181, Diversion end.

All Detours will be signposted in order to direct the Traffic. (Local Access and Emergency Vehicles will be catered for at all times).
