Monaghan has been an Age Friendly County since 2011 with the goal to ensure the people of the county are able to age well this mean creating a society that is inclusive and equitable where the knowledge, skill and input of older people is valued and embedded in all aspects of the plans and actions of the local authority. This will ensure that people over the age of 55 feel they are living a full, active and healthy life.

In order to bring the values and ethos of Age Friendly Ireland to Monaghan an Age Friendly Strategy is an essential policy document in order to make Monaghan a great place to grow older in.
